                    [post_content] => This painting is a concentration of emotion and movement through one night of live painting at the Drake Hotel Underground. It captures the entirety of live painting on a stage with dozens of party goers around as the music blasts from behind the DJ booth. The bartender ignoring a whole side of the bar as anxious and angry patrons wait 10-20 minutes for one drink. A toxic fueled night of energy drinks and alcohol sweep past and as they engage in dancing; so do I. All of my body movements is interpreted into this painting, causing an effect and aesthetic that is hard to explain but seems to be present and now ever lasting.

                    [post_content] => My work is based on the observation, interpretation and expression of a moment. it is done Alla Prima so I work while the paint is still wet. The reason being is when it dries you can see all the brush marks. The brush work shows all the conscious thoughts of that artist. This is what I am interested in. How one articulates a passing moment. Like a story teller but the medium is paint. I believe in language being important to bridge gaps. Painting is a visual language and every culture can come together and communicate. Art has taught me appreciation.

                    [post_content] => Cavalier de sable
From indigo to gold, Timbuktu to Merzouga, between dunes and sand, from palm groves to oases, Marie-Denise Douyon pays tribute to riders, Sahara men and their traditions. The urban wind of modernity blows in, erasing knowledge, rhythms and ancestral secrets with its sandy gusts.

My work reveals specific pictorial processes, from paint to wax (beeswax and pigments), as well as the free representation of a bird's eye view. In the project that includes Ébène, I've collected patterns of nature as seen from an overhead view—spirals, branching, bubbles, etc.—, which I observed from a macroscopic point of view before transposing them to the canvas. Experiencing the wax in its various forms—liquid, soft, hardened— transforms the image and leads me to produce art that is situated between abstraction and representation. This work is one of a series of textured monochromes painted with wax.
Key words in my art: paint, colors, textures, materiality, bird's eye view, abstraction

It was entirely created with 3D printing. However it has a unique aspect: the shape, dimension and material of each link varies. This leads to uneven spacing, with an interlinking that is sometimes forced, which in turn creates a chain filled with tension and torsions, or even breakage. Nevertheless, Méandres mère materializes a reflection on evolution. It offers itself as a fossilized representation of creative projects, from the moment an idea forms in the mind to its realization, while demonstrating how decisions and attempts will make them evolve. Sometimes the process can be happy and easy, while in other instances it can be riddled with twists and turns. Sometimes it may even be interrupted. Acting as a time marker, the zipper's tab moves along, bringing together the ill-fitting links that are past events, choices and attempts. Noémie Weinstein reflects on temporality, solitude and absence through the representation of fragile, remote spaces in paintings and drawings. Her works display a silent, faraway world where human absence is omnipresent, creating a sometimes heavy atmosphere. Her work is one of oppositions: shapes and misshapes, rigour and flexibility, overabundance and emptiness. She is looking for the line between a reassuring, familiar environment and an anxiety-ridden, troubling universe. ARTIST STATEMENT / BIOGRAPHY Noémie Weinstein lives and works in Montreal, Québec. Her painting and drawing explores the notions of temporality, loneliness and absence through the representation of architectural spaces. Her works show a silent and distant world where human absence is everywhere, creating sometimes and heavy atmosphere. Her work plays on oppositions such as form and formlessness, rigor and flexibility, abundance and emptiness. Several influences are essential to her thinking like Franz Kafka or Andreï Tarkovski. Born in France, Noémie Weinstein graduated a master degree from the School of Fine Arts in Bourges, France in 2012. Then she moved to Montreal and made a master in visual and media arts at UQÀM (University of Quebec in Montreal). She obtained in 2012 the excellence award FARE, and graduated in 2016 in UQÀM. Her work has been exhibited in several art centers in Canada in solo and group exhibition. Dérive no.6 is part of my new project entitled DÉRIVE OU CHANGEMENTS CLIMATIQUES [Downward slide or climate change]. Combining paint and sculpture-installation, this project is currently going through its creation process. While pursuing my research on the body/matter relationship, I'm striving to evoke a chaotic universe where the human being's helplessness towards his environment is expressed in an abstract, poetic and symbolic manner. Through this evolutive concept, I merge body and matter in abstract and symbolic poetry, where vivid, joyous colors are in sharp contrast with man's downward slide, which gradually reveals itself through the creative process. Here, body and matter are entwined in the gears of a wheel from which neither can escape. Dérive no. 6 is the most recent work in this project. Catholicism is an integral part of Québec's history. One does not have to dig deep into the archives to understand that it wasn't as pure as it claimed to be. La Vierge Magie is a small nod to the propaganda campaigns about the temptation of the forbidden fruit, and also refers to attributing all that is inexplicable (or magic) to God. Covering up its secrets like a magician, binding the faithful with its good words, the Catholic church, master of illusion, slowly reveals its true face: The Virgin Magic. For this creation, I have chosen to translate light using materials and techniques that specific to my field, that is textile printing. The project offers a tricolor vision of light. The printed pattern is an interpretation, a vision of a neon light and its halo.   A very saturated, very dense color in the middle disperses and lightens towards the edges. A translation of color where color becomes a series of shapes laid out in a precise order.   Flashlight refers to the diffusion of white light playing on 3 levels of colors. As if the central light decomposed itself, bit by bit. Printing the design on a transparent canvas allows for the superimposing of patterns and colors, which adds vibrancy to the final result. A feeling of dispersion comes through, whereby the piece questions our perception by hiding/revealing colors. The diffusion effect generated by the cut-out allows for the gradual discovery of what lies beneath the canvas. This piece is a unique experience for each viewer, as its perception will depend on the person's position, mobility, and vision of colors. The types of fabrics used provide a vibrant, crisp finish. The rose is the queen of flowers. It represents grace, love and beauty. The character appears before us as in the middle of an initiation. It extends its arm towards a vision. Not its own, as it has no face. It is more of an interior perception, a deep feeling... a clairvoyance. Its thorns evoke both a rose's actual physical attributes and the character's protection against nefarious influences. Thorns are the guardians of purity. The character wears its thorns on its back, symbolically behind it, since it is turning towards the light. From this point of view, the thorns are its weapons, its shield. Thorns also dissuade others from attacking lest they be injured. Who has not wished, selfishly, to pick a rose?
